PRE-REGISTRATION
We are offering two chances to pick up your Race Numbers, goody bag and wristband.
We STRONGLY recommend that you pick up your packet the day before. It won't start
to be light until 6:30 a.m.and sunrise will be at 7:00 a.m. Make your morning stress free
by having your bike number, helmet number and bib number ready to go the day before!

CHIP TIMING

•Timing chips will used for both the Triathlon (Individual, For Fun, Athena, Under 18)
and the Duathlon.
•All athletes MUST wear a chip during the event!
•The chips will be issued Sunday morning from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM.
•For those that checked in Saturday, you may proceed directly to the chip-timing table.
Show your race number, and ID to get your timing chip.
•For athletes checking-in and registering race day morning, you must complete the
check-in process prior to getting your timing chip.


Popular Question—Can I pick up a packet for a friend or have a friend get my packet?
Yes. However, we must see a photo identification (copy is fine) of the person to issue
their packet, race number and timing chip. Athletes that had their packet picked up
for them Saturday will need to go to a special table Sunday morning and show their
PHOTO ID AND RACE NUMBER TO RECEIVE THEIR WRIST BAND SUNDAY MORNING.
All athletes must be wearing a wrist band Sunday morning. Only one wristband per
athlete will be issued. Do not remove your wristband until you leave the Park on Sunday.

 

INDIVIDUAL (AGE-GROUP) vs. FOR FUN
If you are listed as Individual, Club/Team or Under 18 you are racing in your Age-Group.
If you want to switch to the "For Fun" category you MUST do so prior to September 14.
To start in the "For Fun" group you MUST be listed in the "For Fun" category. The "For Fun"
category allows athletes of all ages to start the swim together. You can check your category
by going to the participant list. Email info@mermaidtriathlon.com if you need to switch categories.

 

QUICK TIPS FOR A SMOOTH RACE DAY
1) Pick up your registration on Saturday to avoid the rush on Sunday morning.
2) Bring a Photo ID and your USA Triathlon card (if you are a member) otherwise you paid a
$10 one day fee and we'll have that on record.
3) Bring a Towel to lay on the ground next to your bike in the transition area. You'll want to
step on the towel and wipe off your feet prior to putting on your biking/running shoes.
Sometimes it is nice to have a bottle of water to pour on your feet to help wash off some
of the dirt/sand.
4) Say hello to the athletes around you and don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help.
5) Extra water bottle for the transition area stay hydrated.
6) Sunscreen (it will be a warm, sunny day)
7) Label your gear with your name. If found we can contact you
8) Do you have a latex allergy? If so, bring your own swim cap and let us know at Check-In.

MERMAID GIVEAWAY
Lots of cool, fun prizes will be given away randomly through the day to the mermaid participants.
So make sure you listen to Heidi's announcements, and don't miss out!!!

POST RACE FOOD
An all you can eat pancake breakfast will be available for all athletes after the race.
The pancake breakfast will be hosted by the Santa Clara University Women's Rowing Team.
There is a $5 dollar donation for all non-athletes.

MERMAID YAHOO GROUPS
You still have time to join mermaid yahoo groups where you can ask questions, find training partners,
sell triathlon gear, or find a carpool to the next event.
