Calling all girls for the Santa Cruz mini mermaid run! We've got just over 50 girls signed up for the mini, bring out your little mermaid and have them partake in the fun. They'll smile, laugh, walk and run their way 1.5 miles to the finish line. The mini is just for girls and just for fun. Register online for $10.00. The entry fee goes up on race day to $15.00. <more>
Pre-Race Registration and Packet Pick-up
Keep your race morning stress free by picking up your race packet on Saturday! You'll get your bib numbers, t-shirt, goody bag, timing chip and wristband! This means you can show up on Sunday with your bike number, helmet number, shirt number and timing chip on and ready to go! We strongly encourage all athletes to pick up their race packets on Saturday.

Location: Whole Foods, Santa Cruz
Time: 2:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m (All athletes need to bring a photo I.D.)

Popular Question-Can I pick up a packet for a friend or have a friend get my packet?
Yes. However, we must see a photo identification (copy is fine) of the person to issue
their packet, race numbers, t-shirt and timing chip. Athletes that had their packet picked up
for them Saturday will need to go to the info table Sunday morning and show their
PHOTO ID AND RACE NUMBER TO RECEIVE THEIR WRIST BAND SUNDAY MORNING.
All athletes must be wearing a wrist band Sunday morning. Only one wristband per
athlete will be issued. Do not remove your wristband until you leave the Park on Sunday.
Start Times
All athletes are responsible for starting in their correct start wave. To check which category you are entered in please reference the confirmed athletes list.
the Age-Group category your age division is based on your age on race day.
Tentative Wave Starts
7:30 a.m. - Family & Friends Triathlon
7:30 a.m. - Duathlon (start is on the paved path at the bottom of the stairs)
7:45 a.m. - 40 and Over, Athena
7:45 a.m. - mini mermaid run (start is on the paved path at the bottom of the stairs)
7:50 a.m. - 30 - 39, Relay
7:55 a.m. - 29 & Under
8:15 a.m. - Mighty Mermaid Olympic Triathlon
Family and Friends Category
The Family and Friends category was started to allow athletes of any age to start together. It is very popular for mother and daughter combos, friends who would otherwise be in different start waves and first time triathletes. If you would like to switch into or out of the Family and Friends category you must do so prior to September 22nd. To switch please send an email to info@mermaidtriathlon.com. Updated Course Maps
The race course maps have all been updated. Please note there are two steep hills on the bike course for both the Mermaid and the Mighty Mermaid. We recommend you practice or drive the course prior to race day so you know where the steep hills are located. On race day, if you need to walk up the hills please stay to the far right so other riders can pass you. <Mermaid Maps and Mighty Mermaid Maps>

Pro Triathlete Becky Lavelle and Jenny's Light
Triathlete Magazine's 2008 Female Triathlete of the Year, Becky Lavelle will be at the Mermaid post race expo on behalf of Jenny's Light. Jennys Light was created by Becky and her family after she tragically lost her twin sister Jenny and nephew Graham to postpartum depression. Their mission is to improve and save lives by increasing awareness of all perinatal mood disorders, including postpartum depression. Stop by the expo to meet Becky and learn more about Jenny's Light.
